Glenderamackin Catchment Restoration Project:

West Cumbria Rivers Trust have been running the Glenderamackin Catchment Restoration Project for the last 4 years. This is funded through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development’s Water Environment Grant scheme. Working with landowners and partner organisations, this has led to the delivery of a suite of biodiversity and natural flood management measures with the aim to reduce the flood risk to the community of Keswick and provide environmental benefits for the watercourses and surrounding land.

This project was the construction of a new pond and restoration/enlargement of two existing ponds with livestock fencing across three different sites in Thirlmere. Completed in early September 2022 whilst the weather was on our side, we saw quick results with increased habitat & biodiversity.
